The North Carolina Water Quality Association, Inc. is a statewide association of publicly owned treatment works. Its primary purpose is to ensure that North Carolina’s water quality programs are based on sound science and regulatory policy so that its members can protect public health and the environment in the most cost-effective manner possible. NCWQA is actively involved in every water quality issue in North Carolina of significance to the membership.
WHAT WE DO
- Track state and federal legislation.
- Provide members with timely analyses of issues and impacts.
- Track and actively participate in all state (and selected federal) water quality-related regulatory activities.
- Compile and review all state (and selected federal) water quality-related guidance, policy, and technical documents, including DENR guidance documents, guidance from EPA Region IV, and EPA Headquarters' Office of Water and Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance.
- Provide general guidance to members involving permitting, compliance, and enforcement issues.
- Provide a forum for municipal water quality treatment professionals to share their experiences and insights and review significant developments on both the state and national level through quarterly membership meetings.
- Conduct educational events for members and state resource agency personnel.
- Cooperate with other municipal groups to advance the Association's water quality issues and goals.
- Research and share the latest technical developments through cooperative efforts with DENR, technical studies, input from consultant members, and other members' experience and activities.
